Theoretical vs. Practical Internal Audit

Field: Auditing | Delivery Method: Self Study | CPE Hours: 0.5

Is it more important to be theoretical or practical?

We can debate the theory all day, but then you have to make a practical decision that works for your #internalaudit team and organization.

I was recently talking to a couple of #chiefauditexecutive about this topic, especially as it relates to the new IIA global audit standards and how many are trying to implement a theoretical and utopian view of internal audit and are finding it challenging with their senior management team.

Just like it's more important to be effective than efficient, it's more important to find a practical solution instead of insisting on a theoretical one. Theory usually sounds good until one tries to put it into practice.

In this video I explain how we can take a more practical approach that will lead to less resistance from management and the board, and will make our job more fun, fulfilling, and others will start to see us as adding real value to our organizations.
